e85-e98 results
chris.... after all the rain  last Saturday was my first time out to a drag strip this year.
We had very positive results for our first test and tune with E85. Last year we
finished up  around the 10.40 et, we left the track Saturday with our last 2 runs back
to back at 10.19 et @131mph. We really did very little tweaking to get there.
Changed the plugs and played with launch RPM and shift point. We knew we had
traction issues but when we got home and really started looking at the data logger
info, traction issue is a gross understatement!!!! I'm sure with some real tuning and
some 4 link adjustments we can shave another three-tenths maybe even four. So far
I'm very pleased that we switched to E85 and your carb mods work great....-Dave :

chris.."I finally got my car done and on the road. The carb is super awesome! I'm
totally pleased! Back when this engine ran on race gas, it never ran this good. Thanks

Chris,
Here are some pictures of my Minn-e-rod in action.  I am currently in the lead for the “No
Smoking” award.  This award is given out by the club members for the puller who
consistently gives the best show, the best show usually means the most tire smoke.
I have your stickers and E85 stickers on the tractor.  People are amazed at the
performance running E85.  It’s awesome.  I’ll stay in touch,  I’ve sent a couple guys your
way and will continue to plug your carbs and E85 at all the pulls..Thanks again,..Rob

comments = Hi Chris,
Thanks for the help setting up our Holley 500 cfm carb to run E-85 for our dirt track
Sportsman (Pro-stock, Limited Late Model). Finished the season 2nd in points. Made
a minor high speed air bleed adjustement on 8/30/08 and led 14 3/4 laps of a 15 lap
feature. Unfortunately for 2009, we are combining with the late model class. We will
be pushing to still be able to run E-85, but most likely we'll need to run a 4 barrel.
Will be contacting you when I know what carb we'll be able to run.
Thanks again

comments = Chris,
Thanks for the great job you did on the 950HP e-85 conversion for the 477 Chevy I
recently built. The carb performed flawlessly on the dyno and had a fuel curve that was
within .02/pound on the BSFC numbers throughout the RPM range. The carb actually
performed best the way you had it jetted out of the box! Your "real time" tuning advice
while I was on the dyno was very helpful as well. With a simple timing and jetting sweep,
we had it tuned right in..This was a 92 octane engine when I last built/dynoed it. I raised
the compression to 12.2:1 from 10.25:1 and went with a slightly longer duration cam. It
went from 560 to 610 horsepower and from 540#/ft to 580#/ft on the torque. Like most of
the mild oval port stuff I build, it was done with 2.09/1.72 valves and only minimal port
work.
The throttle response it great and the it idles at 800 rpm. The data from your dyno/ build
sheet was very comprehensive and helpful as well. Myself and the engine's owner were
very pleased with the results.
You're the best in the business, expect more boxes from North Branch in your UPS in the
future!
Thanks again, Ron Flood, Cedar Machine Service.
P.S. I'll mail you the before and after dyno sheets.

Hi Chris,
I have a Rochester carb to be switched to E85 for a hobby stock car. Last year you did
one for me, and it worked awesome... this is for a friend. Can I go ahead and send it to
you?
Also I have a question do I need to worry about changing the jets with the weather like a
alky carb?

Hey Chris,
I have got to say I read the hype on-line about E85.  The "seat of the pants" and "time
slip" reviews.  After talking with on you the phone, I decided to send you the carb for the
changes.   I took the E85 hype with a grain of salt and to be honest if the carb changes &
E85 matched the C14 I would have been thrilled. I have a SB2 that dyno'd in at 771
hp/661 trq .   So I took the engine back to the dyno. With no other changes other than
plug heat range... timing  and your  E85 carb we went to 807 hp/689 trq.  From WOT
back to idle it all went as "advertised".   And the really sweet part of this is that I got the
fuel for dyno session on way to dyno shop at a gas station @ $1.45 a gallon. You now
have a loyal customer who in fact has already recommended you to another racer for
your carb mods.
Thanks,

high 6s next spring  Thanks for your help  JOHN THACKER
Chris,
Not the best of shots due to paint job incomplete, but this is the car that belongs to the
red carbs on your homepage...9.55 @ 143.25...done just as I drive it on the street.
Mufflers, air cleaners, DOT tires, 3500 stall and no trans brake... E85 is great!

comments = Hey Chris,
Just wanted to say thanks for the awesome carb.  I race a sportsman stockcar on a
3/8mile dirt track. I've bought expensive aerosol carbs and tried about everything else I
could,. was just about at my wits end with the dam things. Till I found your website. I
called you sent you a stock 4412 two barrel, and got back one of the most valuable
pieces of my racing operation. I've run the carb for two years right out of the box the
way you sent it back to me in, without changing a thing, not even a jet and it has run
flawlessly. Just over the last season I racked up 6 feature wins, 9 top 5s, and 2 top tens
and ran away with the track points championship.  My engine runs crisper, about 15
deg. cooler, and not to mention I get my E-85 at the local Holiday station for about
$1.45 gal. This saved me well over $1000 in race fuel costs in one season. Can't say
enough about E-85 and these carbs.......   Thanks Chris
